Anambra: Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB Never Said Election Won’t Hold – Abaribe by Goodykeys(1): Sat 30, October, 2021 |
Eyinnaya Abaribe, the Senate Minority Leader, has revealed that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and his group never suggested the election should not take place in Anambra State.
The fifth columnists, not Kanu or IPOB, according to Abaribe, are behind the no-election order. Abaribe said Kanu's lawyers acknowledged that the instruction did not come from their leader during a town hall meeting with Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) leadership and students in Awka. “Who gave the order that there will be no election? IPOB has never said that there will be no election in Anambra. It is the handwork of 5th columnists,” Abaribe said. There has been tension over the planned conduct of the November 6th governorship election in Anambra State. Rumors making the rounds have it that IPOB declared that the forthcoming election won’t hold. However, IPOB has denied giving such an order, stressing that it has nothing to do with Nigeria’s electoral system. Meanwhile, the separatist group had ordered a sit-at-home in Anambra State, starting from November 5th. The order is aimed at prevailing on the Federal Government to release Kanu.
